Web design client quotes from the golden age Arrivé
SimplePie + Magpie = NeoPie
I have recently started to build a site that uses MagpieRss, then I switched to SimplePie because it seemed to fetch Atom better, although I actually like elements of both a lot. Much to my surprise when I tried to look at the SimplePie functions documentation today I was met by not the information I wanted but this statement:
What do you get when you take the two best PHP-based feed parsers and merge them together? Introducing NeoPie. We’re in the process of merging our teams, our code, and our websites. This website will soon be shutdown, and content will be merged into magpiephp.com. Please follow that website for all future development.
Unfortunately it does not look like I can read up on the SimplePie functions and the MagpiePHP page helpfully is just displaying “coming soon…”. I guess I will have to wait until “soon”.
Dammit, I got played: “Hope you all enjoyed the April Fool’s joke! SimplePie is back to normal! :)”

Same thing happened to me, I’m wondering if this is an April Fool’s joke because the magpie site doesn’t mention it.
Yeah, I was also thinking the timing was a bit strange, but it would be a highly esoteric prank. Also what would the point of directing people to http://magpiephp.com/ be?
Well, lucky for me I am using the trunk build, whose docs are still up
I may actually be real. If you look at the Whois record for MagpiePHP.com http://www.dnsstuff.com/tools/whois.ch?ip=magpiephp.com It is registered to Kellan Elliott-McCrea the Magpie creator.
Well I wish they would get along and launch it, or at least let us to continue to use the rest of the SimplePie site.
Well, it was just an April Fool’s Joke…
