Snow fun

Yesterday I went up to Cypress mountain with Martyn, I was dressed for the occaision in the finest unisex snowboarding attire provided by Martyn’s live in lover Liz. I have only been snowboarding once before so it was Bunny Slope time for me - thankfully Martyn was keen to teach and did a very fine job too. Pretty soon I was going down the hill with a fairly good level of control - but enevatibly I would fall, and put my hand out to “break” my fall.

After falling many times my elbow began to hurt. After falling many more times and then once again my elbow was in dire pain and I could no longer put any weight on it. This made it almost impossible for me to stand up from a fall. I was up at the top of the run in a lot of pain fearing the thought of having to go down without the ability to fall again - if I did fall and instinct made me put out my right arm to break the fall I would surely end up in hostpital, which would be very expensive without winter sports insurance I failed to purchase. I managed to get down the slope only colliding with one person, a rather lovely girl, I managed to use her to break my fall and so saved my arm. When I got to the bottom of the hill it was the end of snowboarding fun for me - Martyn and I headed back to base.

Today the arm is in quite a lot of pain, I can’t really straighten it out and nor can I fully bend it. It is kind of stuck in the middle. I might see a doctor about it on Monday, obviously I will tell him I fell over on some ice in the parking lot - right?! Right.

I start work back at Futureshop/BestBuy on Monday, for two weeks, that should cover my rent this month - woo hoo!!
