Power Out (de-powered) Guemes Island Tour Pt(1)

91.1fm

September 11th started with my alarm going off at 5am. David needed to go to the airport early. We lay in bed until 5.45am and then I had to get him moving else we would never leave.

We woke Jess up, had coffee, visited the beach and then said our farewells before mounting the Explorer and heading off for the 7am ferry. It was a female shift on the ferry and they did not look too happy. I think it was too early for everyone.

We bombed up the East-bound 20 and then onto the 5 heading South to Seattle. On the way we listened to September 11th radio which was mainly tributes and aggressive talk shows. As we neared the airport we tuned into a repeat of the Howard Stern show from Sept 11th last year. It was quite strange to hear the whole lot unfold in real time once again.

Dave made his flight, and as far as I know he is alive and well - God speed you Grocott and return home safely.

When I finally got back to the island I sat in the sun and dozed for a while. We were waiting for the plumber, Bart, to come by and unblock the toilet that I helped block. He never showed so we took a walk to the gnome pond with Basil and Zora.

It is still September 11th here - but for you guys in blighty that has been and gone, I hope it was as pleasant for you has been for me.
